ARTS ALIVE! WELCOMES RETURN OF CELTIC CROSSROADS MARCH 23

KENOSHA, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Arts Alive! series welcomes the return of Celtic Crossroads Tuesday, March 23. Offering a unique Irish music experience, this seven-member band fills the university’s Communication Arts Theatre with music, energy and excitement starting at 7:30 p.m.

Formerly known as Music at the Crossroads, the band played a sold-out Arts Alive! concert in March 2008. Tickets for this performance quickly sold-out but a limited number of seats have been added.

“People who saw the 2008 performance still talk about the tremendous energy and the amazing musicianship of Celtic Crossroads, so we knew tickets for this show would go fast,” said Arts Alive! Director Stephanie Sirovatka-Marshall. “Now, we’ve added seats in the theatre’s orchestra area and some seats reserved for the band have been released for sale but people are going to have to hurry to get them.”

The name Celtic Crossroads refers to a time in Ireland when neighboring townsfolk met at the crossroads between their communities to socialize, bringing their musical instruments and their talents for song and dance. Celtic Crossroads fuses traditional Irish music, bluegrass, gypsy, and jazz with the rhythms of exciting Hibernian dance percussion.

At the crossroads, a hot fiddle competes with an explosive banjo, an intricate mandolin mixes with accordion, bouzouki, and guitar; haunting uilleann pipes are heard along with the lilt of the Irish harp. Throw in thunderous bodhran rhythms, drum kit, and cajon drum then bring in a cast of musical characters like “Crooked Jack,” “Ned of the Hill,” and the “Czar of Munster” for an evening of unforgettable music and wonderful Irish storytelling.

Tickets for Celtic Crossroads are $20 and can be reserved online at www.uwp.edu keyword tickets or by calling 262-595-2307. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience what’s been called “the most exhilarating and authentic show to come from Ireland in decades” when Celtic Crossroads comes to UW-Parkside Tuesday, March 23.
